West Haven City will hold a special work session and a regular City Council meeting on Oct. 7, 2026, according to a notice published Oct. 1. The evening's events will begin with a work session at 5:00 PM followed by a regular meeting at 6:00 PM.
The work session, held in the City Council chambers, will feature a presentation on the Parks Master Plan by Community Development Director Stephen Nelson. Other scheduled discussion items for the work session include reports from elected officials and the City Manager. No action can be taken on items discussed during this work session, as the discussion is intended for clarification purposes.
During the regular meeting at 6:00 PM, Mayor Vanderwood will preside over the session. The agenda includes a public presentation period where residents may express concerns for three minutes regarding issues not listed on the agenda. The council will also consider several action items, including the approval of meeting minutes from Sept. 16, 2026, and a payment to CPCO, LLC in the amount of $160,229.80.
The council is scheduled to vote on several resolutions and ordinances. These include an ordinance to amend the zoning from A-1 to R-2 for specific parcels on 2700 W. for applicant Trek Loveridge. Additionally, the council will consider resolutions to appoint Matt Earl and Derek Malan as West Haven City prosecuting attorneys, and to appoint Tracy S. Cowdell and Cowdell Law, P.C. as the West Haven City attorney for civil legal services.
Another action item involves awarding a bid for Windsor Park improvements, as reported by City Engineer Edward Mignone. The council may also enter into a closed session to discuss a strategy session regarding the purchase, exchange, or lease of real property in accordance with Utah Code 52-4-205.
The City of West Haven has several upcoming community events scheduled for October and November. These include an Arts Council Workshop at The Barn on Oct. 12, Open Sew Night on Oct. 19, Barn yarns Storytelling on Oct. 22, a Pumpkin Walk at R. Kenneth Baldwin Country Park on Oct. 26, and a Music Circle at The Barn on Oct. 26. Other events include a Senior Lunch Bunch on Oct. 28 and a Barn Open House on Nov. 17.
