Murray High School is inviting interested individuals to apply for positions on the School Community Council for the 2026-27 term. The school is looking to fill four open parent positions and two open employee positions.
Serving on the council allows parents and teachers to help improve academic performance at the school. The council decides how to utilize annual dividends from the school trust lands, which totaled $316,551.00 for the school this year from the School LAND Trust Program.
In addition to managing funds, the council reviews and prepares annual academic plans for students, which are then reviewed for final approval by the school board. The council also serves in an advisory capacity to both school and school district administrations.
The council is composed of school employees elected by staff and parents elected by parents of students attending the school. Membership terms last for two years, and elections are held at the start of each school year. To qualify, parent members must have a student attending the school during at least one of the two years of their term, and employees must be employed by the school district at the school.
Interested candidates can submit a form to the school principal by August 28, 2026. Candidate forms are available to be filled out online or in person at the Murray High School main office located at 5440 S. State Street, Murray, UT 84107. The School Community Council Election was scheduled for September 2, 2026.
