Summit County officials have announced several upcoming community engagement opportunities, including a project update for the Altus Project and a strategic planning session for senior services, as local municipalities navigate infrastructure and land use developments.
Senior Services and Altus Project Updates
The Summit County Sheriff's Office announced that residents aged 55 and older are invited to provide feedback on senior citizen programs during free meals scheduled for June 17 at the Ledges Event Center and June 19 at the Park City Senior Center. Additionally, County Manager Shayne Scott will lead a discussion regarding the Altus Project at Kimball Junction on June 16 at 6 p.m. at the Richins Auditorium.
Hurricane Drainage Fee Public Hearing
In Hurricane, Mayor Fawcett has called for a public hearing on June 18 at 6 p.m. at the Fine Arts Center to discuss a proposed increase in the city's monthly drainage fee from $4 to $11. The mayor noted that the increase is intended to address long-term infrastructure needs and comply with MS4 storm water regulations required by the Utah Division of Water Quality.
Highland Flat Land Acquisition Details
Summit County recently completed the acquisition of the 25-acre Highland Flat parcel at the US Hwy 40/I-80 gateway. According to a June 4 announcement from the county, the purchase was funded through a voter-approved General Obligation bond program to preserve open space and rural character.
