The Dixie Flyers are preparing to represent their school in Region 9 football this season. Following a varsity scrimmage at Walt Brooks Stadium on Aug. 8, 2026, second-year head coach Will Liebert expressed confidence that the team is proving itself to the St. George community.
The upcoming season comes after a challenging year for the Flyers, who finished with a 2-8 record last season and went winless in Region 9 play. Due to a depleted roster caused by players transferring or moving out of the area, the school made the decision over the summer to cancel the junior varsity season.
Despite the lack of depth, the team is seeing an increase in participation as more students show interest in the program. Coach Liebert noted that while the team may be younger than most competitors, they have a strong core of sophomores stepping into varsity roles.
Key players expected to make an impact include sophomore quarterback Riker Muhlestein, who recorded seven completions for 116 yards and a touchdown in a previous playoff game, and sophomore Gus Morby, who has been noted for his performance in the passing game and on defense. Liebert also identified sophomores Brygunn Soderquist and Hudson Seegmiller as potential difference makers.
The coaching staff has been bolstered by the addition of new offensive coordinator Cam Morby and new defensive coordinator Misi Tupe.
Dixie will host Richfield at Walt Brooks Stadium on Aug. 14 at 7 p.m. for their season opener. Liebert described Richfield as a 3A powerhouse and emphasized the need for the Flyers to be more prepared than they were during last year's matchup against the Wildcats.
