The Blanding City Council will hold a public hearing on Oct. 13, 2026, to discuss a RAP tax ballot proposition, according to a September 29 notice. The meeting is scheduled to present the proposal to the public and gather feedback regarding the continuation of local sales tax funding for recreational facilities.
The proposed ballot proposition, identified as Blanding Proposal #1, asks voters if the city should reauthorize and continue a local sales tax of one-tenth of one percent (0.1%). The funds from this tax would be used to fund publicly owned or operated recreational facilities. These facilities include parks, playgrounds, athletic fields, swimming pools, trail systems, and other facilities used for recreational purposes.
The meeting is scheduled to take place at 6:50 p.m. at the city office located at 50 W 100 S, Blanding, UT 84511. The session will occur prior to the scheduled city council meeting and is expected to conclude by 7:00 p.m. Officials noted that one or more council members may participate in the meeting electronically. Residents interested in providing oral testimony will be allowed to do so during the hearing.
Blanding is required to hold a public meeting between Sept. 19 and Oct. 30, 2026, to present the ballot proposition and hear public feedback, even in the absence of official opposition. The meeting must begin at or after 6:00 p.m.
