Shoreline Middle School announced that students will be out of school for Fall Break from Oct. 21 through Oct. 26. Principal Tommy Hirschi noted that the school recently participated in HOPE Week and celebrated National School Lunch Week.
In a recent newsletter, Principal Tommy Hirschi highlighted that students and staff participated in dress-up days during HOPE Week to build school connections. The school also celebrated National School Lunch Week, with Hirschi offering a shout-out to the cafeteria staff for preparing meals and creating a welcoming environment for students.
The school's academic calendar includes several upcoming dates. Term 1 ends on Oct. 21, which is also a teacher professional development day with no school for students. Term 2 is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, Oct. 27. Additionally, a dress-up day for Halloween is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 30, with the school requesting that students follow dress code guidelines regarding masks, weapons, and gore.
Shoreline Middle School maintains a closed campus policy to ensure student safety. Visitors must use the RAPTOR electronic identification system to enter the building or check out a student, a process that can take up to 15 minutes. A government-issued ID is required for every visit. Furthermore, food deliveries are only permitted from immediate family members; commercial delivery services will be rejected.
Regarding attendance, the school requires parents to contact the school to excuse an absence within one week. Absences can be excused by calling 801-374-4980 and selecting option #2, emailing smsattendance@provo.edu, or turning in a doctor's note to the Attendance office. When reporting an absence, parents must provide the student's name, the parent's name, the dates, the reason for the absence, and a contact phone number.
For questions concerning student grades or missing assignments, parents are directed to contact teachers or school counselors.
