South Salt Lake conservation efforts
The City of South Salt Lake announced that the community is currently under Level 2 water restrictions. The city has asked residents to participate in conservation efforts by reducing water consumption by 10%.
Parowan's new irrigation prohibitions
In Parowan, Mayor Mollie Halterman issued a proclamation on May 14, 2026, to limit water use due to drought conditions and reduced availability. Under the order, the use of culinary or pressurized irrigation water for outdoor purposes is prohibited daily between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Parowan's tiered watering stages
Parowan's conservation plan includes a tiered system for the pressurized irrigation system. Under the Green Stage, outdoor watering is limited to two assigned days per week. The Yellow Stage encourages residents to reduce unnecessary use while maintaining those same two-day limits, and the Red Stage restricts outdoor watering to only one assigned day per week.
Encouraging efficient water usage
Parowan officials noted that residents and businesses are encouraged to repair leaks promptly and use water-efficient irrigation practices. The city also reserved the right to implement further restrictions if drought conditions worsen.
