The Iron County Board of Commissioners scheduled a public meeting for July 27, 2026, at the Iron County Courthouse located at 68 South 100 East in Parowan. The meeting, which was set to begin at 9:00 a.m., included a variety of agenda items ranging from development amendments to personnel updates.
One primary item on the agenda was a public hearing and discussion regarding a proposed development agreement amendment, Ordinance 2026-17. The amendment involves a request by Equestrian Trails Ranch, LLC to allow a maximum of 64 twin-home units within a master planned subdivision located between 4000 North and 4600 North, and 3700 West and 4400 West in Cedar City. Other scheduled presentations and discussions included a presentation from Go Rail, the freight rail network, by Nate Kaplan, and a presentation of the 2025 independent audit by Kimball & Roberts Certified Public Accountants, presented by Rick Roberts and Gabe Miller. Additionally, Sam Woodall, Bailey Banks, and Kendall Allan were scheduled to present and discuss the Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI).
The commission was set to discuss several other matters, including the use of county roads for an off-road event from August 28-30, 2026, requested by Donald Jackson of Legacy Racing. The agenda also included a review of the 2026 May tax sale results presented by August Franklin, and a discussion regarding a memorandum of understanding between Iron County and Cedar Highlands HOA concerning a fire truck staging project, presented by Cassie Meredith.
Regarding personnel, several requests were listed for the Sheriff's Office, including re-hires and new hires for the Corrections and Patrol divisions, as well as promotions for various deputies. Other personnel requests included a new hire for the Engineer's office, a new hire for the Fleet department, and a new hire for the Clerk's office.
