Parowan is moving to a RED Status water schedule, which includes a new one-day-per-week watering schedule. This measure is intended to stretch the remaining water supply as far as possible while maintaining pressurized irrigation service.
The shift to RED Status comes because Yankee Reservoir is low enough that the Reservoir Company will likely reduce flow levels to conserve remaining water. While recent monsoon storms have provided some assistance, the city must reduce water usage to match the available supply.
Under the new schedule, watering address groups remain the same, but individual watering days may change depending on the group. This new schedule is designed to allow the Forebay a day to recover between watering days, though officials noted this may cause inconvenience for those programming water systems.
Without a major change in weather patterns, officials do not anticipate returning to YELLOW or GREEN Status. Residents can review the new RED Status watering schedule on the city website or via flyers available at the City Office.
