New regulations governing e-bike and e-scooter use became effective in Davis County on May 6, 2026, requiring certain riders to wear protective helmets.
New E-Bike Helmet Regulations
According to the Davis County Sheriff's Office, all e-bike and e-scooter riders under the age of 21 must wear CPSC-approved helmets while riding on roads. Additionally, the agency noted that any devices capable of traveling over 20 mph without the use of pedals are now classified as e-motorcycles.
Vernal Utility Infrastructure Projects
In a separate infrastructure development, the Vernal City Council met Wednesday to consider items regarding a water and sewer improvement project on 100 North and a transmission lining project on 3500 West. The meeting agenda included details on a supplemental $265,000 loan for 15 years at 0.5% interest and a $619,000 grant authorized by the CIB Board on June 4.
Project Funding and Loan Details
The recent funding brings the total project grant amount for Vernal City to $4,518,000 and the total loan amount to $1,936,000 at 0.5% interest for 30 years. The city's water and sewer enterprise fund is responsible for the loan schedule. Council members also reviewed a change order for necessary work discovered since the project's start, including the addition of a manhole at the main line for several 6-inch sewer laterals.
