Hurricane City has provided free sandbags to assist residents in keeping water contained. According to a notice posted to the city's website, the initiative is intended to help keep water where it belongs.
The process for obtaining sandbags involves two steps. Residents can first pick up empty sandbags at the Hurricane Police Department. Once filled, the bags can be taken to any city sand pile location.
Available sand pile locations include Fire Station 42, the intersection of 700 W and 400 S, 200 W near the ball fields, the Hurricane Animal Shelter, and Dixie Springs (3400 W).
