Texas ascended to the No. 1 spot in the Week 3 AP Top 25 Poll, according to a September 13 report. The Longhorns moved up from No. 4 following a victory over Ohio State, marking their first time leading the AP Poll since the 2025 preseason.
The rankings saw significant movement as several top teams experienced losses. Oregon fell 15 spots from No. 6 to No. 21 after losing to unranked Oklahoma State. Ohio State dropped five spots to No. 6 following a one-point loss.
Michigan returned to the rankings at No. 19 after a 17-10 win over No. 11 Oklahoma. The Wolverines had previously dropped out of the polls following a narrow win over Western Michigan. Oklahoma fell 13 spots to No. 24.
The poll also saw Washington fall for the second consecutive week. After starting the season ranked No. 17, the Huskies are now unranked after a two-point victory over Utah State.
The Week 3 rankings include BYU at No. 11 and Utah at No. 17. Other notable ranked matchups scheduled for the week include No. 7 LSU at No. 8 Ole Miss and Florida State at No. 10 Alabama.
