Uintah County has provided updated information regarding the upcoming 2026 election cycle, including critical deadlines for voter registration and notification of changes to state voter privacy laws. The deadline to register to vote for the General Election is October 23rd.
Voters can register or update their information, such as addresses or party affiliations, through vote.utah.gov. Alternatively, registration forms can be completed and taken to the Uintah County Clerk-Auditor's office with an ID, or mailed to 147 East Main, Vernal, UT 84078.
Following the 2026 Legislative Session, state law regarding voter privacy has changed under SB 153. Certain information for all registered voters is now considered public record, including full names, residential and mailing addresses, age ranges, voter numbers, precincts, party affiliation, voter status, and lists of elections in which an individual has voted.
Sensitive data remains private and is only accessible to authorized government entities. This includes full dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, phone numbers, and email addresses. However, voters may opt-in to share their phone number or email with political parties if they choose.
For individuals with safety concerns, an At-Risk Designation Request Form is available. This status allows certain individuals to keep their information private and is available to victims of domestic or dating violence, those with protective orders, law enforcement personnel, active military members, and public figures who have received threats, as well as those living in the same household as these individuals.
Regarding ballot processing, the County Clerk's Office processes ballots Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., excluding holidays. This process includes signature verification, opening and scanning ballots, adjudicating ballots, and tabulating votes.
