Millcreek has identified several ways for local businesses and residents to get involved in community initiatives, according to a notice posted to the city's website. The notice highlights upcoming fundraisers, literacy events, and a program designed to showcase local business community involvement.
Evergreen Junior High is hosting a STEM Night fundraiser to benefit its TSA Chapter. This donation-based event aims to fund a drone light show and student t-shirts, allowing the event to remain free to the public. Businesses can sponsor one of more than 20 booths for $100 or pay $1,000 to have a logo featured on t-shirts and in the drone light show.
Additionally, James E. Moss Elementary School is seeking volunteers for its Read Across America Day titled Donuts and Grown Ups. Volunteers are asked to assist students in selecting books and reading with students who do not have an adult present. The initiative aims to help children become proficient in reading by the end of third grade.
The Millcreek Miracle program is also encouraging local businesses to share stories of how they support the community to encourage local shopping. The city noted a recent community event hosted by Zions Bank, where students from the Utah School for the Deaf and Blind decorated a tree in the bank's lobby with art supplies and refreshments.
