The Iron County School District has partnered with Utah State University to offer free mental health services for K-12 students living in Iron County throughout June and July.
Previous student well-being efforts
The district's initiative follows previous efforts to address student well-being, including a program for students in grades 3 through 12 to register for well-being screenings to identify supports for anxiety, depression, or self-harmful behaviors.
USU expert in equine therapy
In the field of specialized mental health interventions, Utah State University lecturer Sarah Andersen focuses on equine-assisted services. Andersen, who holds a master's degree from USU, specializes in the use of horses for therapeutic purposes and has published research regarding equine-assisted programs in residential substance use disorder treatment.
Upcoming Back to School event
While the school district's mental health partnership is active for the summer, Iron Online has also announced its Back to School Open House will be held on August 6, 2026, with morning and evening sessions available for students and parents.
