Deer Valley Resort is set to more than double its skiable terrain this winter through a massive expansion that adds seven new chairlifts and nearly 80 new ski runs. The 2025/26 season marks the most transformative phase of the resort's Expanded Excellence initiative, connecting previously separated areas into an interconnected network of more than 4,300 acres.
Major Terrain Expansion
The expansion, which includes the integration of Park Peak, Big Dutch Peak, Keetley Point, and Pioche Point, represents one of the most significant developments in North American ski history. According to a press release from Deer Valley Resort on Oct. 17, 2025, the new terrain includes the 4.8-mile-long Green Monster, a run that spans from the top of Park Peak to the Deer Valley East Village base area.
This latest phase builds upon previous developments, including the introduction of the Deer Valley East Village and an initial wave of terrain that added three chairlifts and 20 runs. The resort has added a total of 10 new lifts and nearly 100 new runs since December 2024.
New Lift Infrastructure
A key feature of the new infrastructure is the East Village Express, a 10-passenger gondola that connects the Deer Valley East Village to Park Peak. The system, which features individual heated seats and floor-to-ceiling glass windows, can transport up to 3,000 guests per hour with cabins arriving every 12 seconds.
As Fox13 News first reported via Deer Valley's announcement, the gondola ride is approximately 14.5 minutes long. The expansion also includes the Pinyon Express, which links existing terrain on Flagstaff Mountain to new beginner-friendly high alpine terrain.
Expanded Excellence Vision
The resort's transformation is part of the long-term Expanded Excellence initiative, which was first announced in August 2023. The project aims to extend the total skiable area to 5,726 acres and includes the creation of a new resort gateway and village, the reimagining of the Snow Park Base Area, and the revitalization of existing mountain facilities.
Looking toward future growth, Deer Valley plans to add more terrain on Hail Peak during the 2026/27 season, with further development on South Peak scheduled for later phases.
Season Opening and Parking
The 2025/26 winter season will begin with an exclusive opening weekend for season pass holders on Nov. 29 and Nov. 30, 2025, before the resort opens to the general public on Dec. 1.
To manage the increased volume, the resort has introduced several service updates. A new premium paid parking program at the Jordanelle Gondola base area will offer complimentary access for Utah Limited Pass holders, carpoolers of three or more guests, and Unlimited, Select, and Midweek pass holders.
Guest Services and Experiences
Deer Valley will offer several amenities to manage the increased footprint, including a partnership with Park City Municipal to provide an express bus from Richardson Flat Park & Ride to Snow Park Lodge. This service will run every 15 minutes during peak periods from Dec. 7, 2025, through March 31, 2026.
Complimentary ski storage will be available at Snow Park Lodge and Silver Lake Lodge. Additionally, the resort offers 'Ski with a Champion' experiences, allowing guests to book half- or full-day adventures with world-class athletes. The roster of available athletes includes Shannon Bahrke, an Olympic medalist; Kris "Fuzz" Feddersen, a freestyle skiing legend; and Kaylin Richardson, a four-time National Alpine Champion.
Navigating the Mountain
The updated winter trail map, hand-painted by artist Rad Smith, provides an enhanced aerial perspective to help guests navigate the expanded footprint. The resort, which has been named the United States' Best Ski Resort by the World Ski Awards for 13 consecutive years, continues to focus on providing luxury service alongside its growing physical scale.
