Friends of Historic Spring City has been named Preservation Utah’s 2026 Heritage Organization, according to a September 14 statement. The award recognizes the work of approximately 180 volunteers who have spent more than forty years maintaining the historic character of Spring City in Sanpete County.
The organization's efforts include the preservation of the 1899 Old School, which now serves as a community center, and the adjacent Junior High. Preservation work also involves providing small grants for historic houses and outbuildings, as well as maintaining the one-acre lots that follow the Plat of Zion.
Additional community preservation efforts include Heritage Day, which has been held every May since 1983, and Candlelight Christmas.
Spring City is a town of approximately 1,000 residents located in Sanpete County.
