Summit County implemented Stage 2 fire restrictions that included a total ban on all fireworks. The restriction applied to all public and private land within the county, including areas within city boundaries.
In late June, the fire danger level for Summit County increased to extreme. During this period, all state and unincorporated lands in the county were placed under Stage 1 fire restrictions.
The implementation of Stage 2 restrictions was driven by current and forecasted weather conditions along with extremely dry vegetation conditions within Summit County.
Authorities noted that violating these fire restrictions would be considered a misdemeanor.
