A community meeting is scheduled for September 2, beginning with a social gathering in front of the library from 5:15 p.m. to 5:50 p.m. The meeting will include a presentation on an enhanced housing proposal from the City and Planning Commission regarding expanded housing options.
Attendees will also hear community reports from several partners, including the Salt Lake City Council, Salt Lake School Board, the Salt Lake City Mayor’s Office, the Salt Lake City Police Department, the Salt Lake City Fire Department, the Sweet Branch Library, and LDS Hospital. The meeting will be held at the Corinne & Jack Sweet Library and via Zoom.
The council is currently seeking volunteers for the Street Fair and is recruiting new members for its board and various committees. The Nominating Committee is also working to recruit elected officers for 2027.
Additionally, the council announced the recipient of the August Community Kindness Program award, Bob and Mary Ellen Archibald, for their service in maintaining a dog bath and water fountain near the Terrace Hills West trailhead.
Other upcoming community activities include the Salt Lake Avenues Community Choir's first rehearsal on September 17 and the Sweet Reads Book Club meeting on September 22.
