A West Jordan couple shared how a 9-1-1 call for rapid labor led to the delivery of a baby girl in their home on July 29. Unified Fire paramedics arrived to assist the family during the unexpected event.
The baby, Ellie Evans, was the second child for Jordan and Ashley Evans. Ashley, a NICU nurse, reported that her water broke while she was in the bathroom after experiencing contractions in the early morning hours of July 29.
Jordan Evans called 9-1-1 as the situation progressed quickly. Paramedics from the Unified Fire Authority arrived at approximately 4:08 a.m. and were prepared to assist within seven minutes. The baby was born at 4:12 a.m., weighing 9 pounds, 11 ounces.
The Evans family later visited the fire station to thank the paramedics. Unified Fire stated the event served as a reminder of why they do their work.
