The Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art on the Utah State University campus scheduled the first annual Block Bash for Sept. 12. Titled Wild About the West, the free event is scheduled to feature art-making, music, cowboy poetry, panel discussions, games, face painting, and food trucks.
The Block Bash is inspired by the Lure and Lore of the West exhibit currently on display at the museum. Danielle Stewart, the NEHMA Head of Academic Initiatives and curator of the exhibit, stated that the festival offers activities for those interested in Western history, legends, art, storytelling, or the mysteries of Bigfoot.
The Lure and Lore of the West exhibition explores the connection between Western myth and history. According to Stewart, the exhibition examines topics ranging from monster legends like Bigfoot to rugged landscapes and fabled treasure. The exhibit includes paintings, photographs, and sculptures, including works by Ansel Adams, Harry Reuben Reynolds, and Ralph Clark. These photographs showcase vistas from Western State and National Parks.
The Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art is located at 650 North, 1100 East on the USU campus. The Lure and Lore of the West exhibit is scheduled to remain on display until May 8, 2027.
