The League of Women Voters of Cache Valley has scheduled a double-header Meet the Candidates forum for mid-September. The events are set to take place at the First Presbyterian Church in Logan.
The forums are scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 10 and Friday, Sept. 11 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tom Williams of Utah Public Radio will moderate both sessions, which will also be streamed live on UPR.org.
According to spokesman Jim Evans, the forums provide an opportunity for voters to ask questions and hear directly from candidates for local, state, and federal offices. Organizers stated the events allow candidates to introduce themselves, discuss priorities, and respond to questions from local voters.
The forum on Sept. 10 will feature candidates for Utah’s 2nd Congressional District, the Utah Legislature (Districts 2, 3, and 5), the Cache County Council (Districts 2, 3, 5, and 7), and the Cache County Council.
The public gathering on Sept. 11 will feature candidates for the Cache County School Board (Districts 2, 4, and 7), the Logan City School Board (District 5), Seat 1 on the Utah State Board of Education, and two seats on the Cache Water District.
The League of Women Voters is a non-profit, non-partisan group founded in 1920 to provide voter education and promote voting rights. The First Presbyterian Church is located at 178 West Center Street in Logan.
