Carbon County is currently accepting applications for an Ambulance Director, according to a job posting published September 3. The position carries a starting wage between $70,000 and $85,000, depending on experience and certifications.
The Ambulance Director is responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing the activities and operations of the Ambulance Department. This includes managing emergency medical response, disaster preparedness, and related services. The individual in this role will provide administrative support to the Commissioners and coordinate activities with outside agencies and other departments.
Key responsibilities include preparing and overseeing the annual budget, submitting grant applications, and managing department goals and priorities. The director may also assume command of field operations at emergency scenes and is responsible for hiring, evaluating, and directing employees. Additionally, the role involves responding to emergencies involving medical, fire, or environmental concerns within the ambulance geographical area as discretion dictates.
Candidates for the position must have a high school diploma or equivalent and a current EMT Certification (EMT-B, I, or P). Required experience includes six years of Emergency Medical Service experience, with at least one year of supervisory experience. Applicants must also be U.S. citizens, at least 18 years of age, and must pass a background check as well as physical and drug screenings.
The role is a full-time, exempt position with a six-month probationary period. Because Carbon County Ambulance is a paramilitary organization, a strict dress code will be enforced.
