The Glen Canyon SSD of Big Water has completed a study to identify lead service lines within its water system. According to a notice on the city's website, the final service line inventory has been classified as non-lead.
The results of the study indicate that no lead, galvanized downstream of lead, or unknown service lines were found in the system. To reach this determination, officials performed visual inspections and a detailed review of available records.
Records reviewed during the process included aerial and historical imagery, installation and construction dates, assessor records, and water system records such as construction as-built drawings. The review also included operation and maintenance records, service line repairs and replacements, and data from software including ESRI ArcGIS, AutoCAD, and Excel.
Other resources and documents reviewed during the inventory included the Culinary Water Master Plan Update, the New Water Rate Structure, and a Homeowners’ Guide to Septic Systems. Information regarding backflow and GCSSD Resolution 2026-02 Rates and Fees was also part of the assessment.
