The Iron County Board of Commissioners met at the Iron County Courthouse in Parowan on March 23, 2026. The meeting included discussions regarding community development, legislative updates, and several personnel actions within county departments.
Community development and solar payments
During the session, the Board convened as the Iron County Community Development and Renewal Agency to discuss and consider the approval of 2025 annual increment payments for multiple community reinvestment areas. These included Red Hills Renewables, Beryl Solar, Buckhorn Solar, Cedar Valley Solar, Fiddler’s Canyon Solar, Enterprise Solar, Granite Mountain Solar East, Granite Mountain Solar West, Iron Springs Solar, Sun Edison Phase I, and Appaloosa Solar I.
Legislative updates and official proclamations
The agenda also featured a presentation regarding the 2026 legislative session from the office of US Senator Celeste Maloy, presented by James Leavitt. Additionally, the commission issued Proclamation 2026-1, which declared April as Child Abuse Awareness Month.

Sheriff's Office personnel changes
Within the Sheriff’s Office Patrol division, the board reviewed the hiring of Jesse Hehn as a full-time Deputy, promotions for Anna Teeples and Jared O’Mealy to Corporal, and bilingual pay for Dallin Linginfelter. The Corrections division saw requests for the hiring of Spencer Gail as a full-time Deputy and the promotion of Matthew Malachowski to Sergeant.
Additional county department hiring updates
Other departmental updates included the hiring of Terry Keys as a part-time Meals on Wheels Driver for the Council on Aging, Brian Norton as a full-time Sign Technician for the Engineer's office, and Boston Miles as a full-time Technician for I.T.
Sewer costs and payment claims
The meeting also addressed a review of cost share percentages for sewer upsize costs between Iron County and Cedar City, presented by Rich Wilson. The board also reviewed claims for payment spanning from March 9, 2026, to March 22, 2026.
