Real Salt Lake is set to celebrate its annual Kick Childhood Cancer Night on Saturday, Sept. 12, at America First Field. The event will include the club's fifth annual Teddy Bear Toss, a tradition that began in 2022.
According to a September 8 statement, the Teddy Bear Toss is a tradition where fans throw new, soft stuffed plush toys onto the field at the halftime whistle. To ensure safety, the club specified that fans should not throw any objects onto the field before halftime or throw items at players, referees, or staff members. Violators of these guidelines will be ejected and escorted from the building.
Participants are instructed to bring only new, soft stuffed plush toys. Items containing batteries, mechanical components, or anything packaged in a box are prohibited for safety reasons. While the toss is intended for the halftime whistle, fans who miss the event can still donate toys at RSL Guest Services. Those unable to attend the match can drop off new stuffed toys at the Executive Entrance on the west side of America First Field through Sept. 11. This entrance is located to the right of the West Lobby.
Donated toys will be distributed to various community organizations, including the American Cancer Society, Best Seat in the House, Intermountain Health Primary Children's Hospital, and Ronald McDonald House.
