Legend Glasker, a former Lehi High star, helped drive No. 8 BYU to a 28-24 upset victory over No. 2 Notre Dame on Saturday, Oct. 17. The win took place at LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo before a crowd of 65,179, which was the Cougars' largest home crowd since 2004, according to a October 19 report.
Glasker, a true freshman wide receiver, recorded five catches for 66 receiving yards and 75 all-purpose yards during the game. His performance tied him for the team lead in receiving yards and made him the BYU leader in all-purpose yards. One of his most significant plays occurred with 4:23 remaining in the fourth quarter when he caught a 26-yard pass from sophomore quarterback Bear Bachmeier on second-and-10. This catch moved the ball to the Notre Dame 15-yard line and set up a 6-yard touchdown pass from Bachmeier to Walker Lyons with 1:47 left in the game.
Bachmeier accounted for all 28 of BYU's points against the Notre Dame defense, which entered the game as the nation's top-rated unit and a double-digit favorite. In addition to the winning drive, Glasker contributed a 19-yard gain in the second quarter that helped lead to a double-pass touchdown. Through six games, Glasker has 24 catches for 444 yards and three touchdowns, leading the next BYU receiver by 200 yards.
Several other area products participated in the matchup. Former Skyridge standout Tausili Akana recorded two tackles and a pass breakup, while Lehi resident Bott Mulitalo started at offensive line. Sophomore defensive end Hunter Clegg, a former American Fork player, added two solo tackles and a hurry. Glasker's three games with five or more receptions this season tie him for the fourth-most among active FBS true freshmen and make him the only Big 12 true freshman with such a performance.
BYU is scheduled to travel to Orlando to face UCF on Saturday, Oct. 24, with the game airing on FOX.
