The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for east central Tooele County on August 13, 2026, according to a report by Gephardt Daily. The warning was issued after radar detected a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado near Skull Valley, approximately nine miles north of Dugway English Village.
The storm, which was moving northeast at 50 mph, was expected to reach the Tooele Army Depot. Radar indicated rotation within the storm, and the warning was set to last until at least 6:30 p.m., though it could be extended.
Authorities warned that flying debris would be dangerous to anyone without shelter and noted that mobile homes could be damaged or destroyed. Damage to vehicles, windows, roofs, and trees was also expected. Additionally, hail could reach a diameter of two inches.
Officials advised residents to take cover immediately by moving to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Those outdoors, in a vehicle, or in a mobile home were instructed to move to the closest substantial shelter to protect themselves from flying debris and to avoid windows.
