Jordan Valley Water uses a tiered rate system to determine customer costs based on total water consumption, according to information released by the utility June 10.
Tiered pricing structure details
Under this structure, the cost per thousand gallons increases as usage grows. For a standard rate area, Tier 1 costs $1.73 per thousand gallons, while Tier 4 usage is charged at $6.64 per thousand gallons.
Additional pump zone surcharges
Specific surcharges apply to certain pump zones. Residents in the Riverton Foothills pay a $0.17 per thousand gallon surcharge, while those in the Casto/Upper Willow Creek area are charged a $0.75 per thousand gallon surcharge.
Usage thresholds by meter size
The thresholds for each tier depend on the size of the water meter at a service address. For the common 3/4" meter found in most single-family homes, Tier 1 covers usage from 1 to 9,000 gallons, Tier 2 covers 10,000 to 23,000 gallons, and Tier 3 covers 24,000 to 53,000 gallons. Any usage exceeding 53,000 gallons falls into Tier 4.
Meter base and flat fees
In addition to tiered usage rates, the utility applies a meter base charge or flat fee based on size. This includes a $3.00 monthly charge for 5/8" and 3/4" meters, rising to $50.00 for 6" meters.
