Alpine School District has announced the formation of three new school districts. The transition process involves the creation of Aspen Peaks School District, Lake Mountain School District, and Timpanogos School District.
Alpine School District will continue to operate schools until June 30, 2027. Officials stated that student learning remains the highest priority and disruption to school activities is expected to be minimal during this time.
The new districts will encompass various municipalities across Utah County.
Aspen Peaks School District will include Alpine, American Fork, Cedar Hills, Highland, Lehi, and the Utah County portion of Draper. This district will serve approximately 25,870 students across 24 schools, including 4 high schools, 4 intermediate schools, 16 elementary schools, and 2 special purpose schools.
Lake Mountain School District will include Cedar Fort, Eagle Mountain, Fairfield, and Saratoga Springs, along with unincorporated parts of Utah County west of Lehi. This district will serve approximately 23,390 students across 29 schools, including 4 high schools, 5 intermediate schools, 20 elementary schools, and 2 special purpose schools.
Timpanogos School District will include Lindon, Orem, Pleasant Grove, and Vineyard. This district will serve approximately 35,000 students across 36 schools, including 4 high schools, 2 intermediate schools, 24 elementary schools, and 2 special purpose schools.
Regarding school operations, there are no immediate changes for employees or schools. Scheduling, staffing, budgeting, and programming will continue routinely at the school level.
As positions in the three new districts are posted, all Alpine employees are encouraged to apply for any positions of interest, including their current roles. However, officials noted that state law does not provide additional job protection for at-will or provisional employees.
