The Iron County School District approved a plan on Tuesday night to move to a four-day school week. According to a August 27 report, the change is scheduled to begin in 12 months, though the district maintains the option to delay the implementation for an additional 12 months if more time is required.
The district obtained a waiver from the State Board of Education two months ago to allow for the transition. By adopting this schedule, the district will join several other districts across the United States that utilize four-day school weeks.
The plan was approved in Cedar City, Utah, and marks a significant shift for the local school system.
