Country singer Sara Evans returns to the Kenley Amphitheater on Aug. 3 for the Davis Arts Council’s Summer Nights with the Stars series. The multi-platinum entertainer, known for her numerous chart-topping hits, is scheduled to perform at the Layton venue at 8 p.m.
A Prolific Musical Career
Evans has established a prolific career in country music, having sold more than six million albums. Her discography includes multi-platinum studio albums such as Real Fine Place and Restless, as well as gold-certified projects like Stronger and No Place That Far. According to the Davis Arts Council, Evans has achieved five number one singles, including "No Place That Far," "Suds In The Bucket," "A Real Fine Place To Start," "Born to Fly," and "A Little Bit Stronger."
Beyond her studio albums, Evans has had 15 songs chart in the top 20. Her success has earned her the Academy of Country Music Top Female Vocalist accolade, along with various nominations for the American Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards, Country Music Association, CMT, and Grammy Awards. She is also a member of the Grand Ole Opry.
From Midwest Roots to Nashville
The singer's path to Nashville began in her youth, singing alongside her brothers in The Evans Family Band. Evans recounted that her mother organized the family band after noticing her vocal talent when she was approximately five years old. The group eventually became a regional act performing throughout Missouri and the Midwest.
As reported by Davis County News, Evans and her brother Matt eventually moved to Nashville to pursue professional opportunities. During her early years in the music business, Evans worked as a waitress at a Holiday Inn while singing demos during the day. Her career trajectory shifted significantly after she was asked to sing a demo of Harlan Howard's "Tiger by the Tail," which led to a seven-album deal with RCA records.
Beyond the Country Stage
Evans' versatility extends beyond the recording studio. In 2006, she was a contestant on "Dancing with the Stars," though she later left the program to focus on her personal life. Additionally, Evans has established herself as an author, having released three fiction novels written with co-writer Rachel Hauck. These novels focus on the relationships of Southern women.
In 2026, Evans also launched a podcast titled "Diving In Deep," featuring guests such as Crystal Gayle, Bill Anderson, and Martina McBride.
Philanthropy and Service
The artist is also recognized for her philanthropic efforts. In 2018, she received the NAB Education Foundation’s Service To America Leadership Award. Evans serves as a Red Cross ambassador and has received the national Crystal Cross award for her disaster-relief work.
