The South Ogden City Council adopted the FY2027 Final Budget during a meeting held on August 4, 2026, according to meeting minutes published August 18. During the session, the council addressed a proposed property tax increase that could generate $476,331 in revenue.
Finance Director Peter Anjewierden presented the Proposed Property Tax Impact Schedule, noting that the estimated tax increase was calculated at 10.3%. The projected revenue from this increase was intended for several city needs, including $281,300 for a new fire engine, $100,000 for parks maintenance, $50,000 for sidewalk repair or replacement, and $45,000 for new police cars.
During a public hearing regarding the tax increase, Robin Holly spoke against the raise in property taxes, and Devin Allen requested that the city look for alternative ways to obtain funds besides taxes. No comments were offered during the separate public hearing for the FY2027 budget.
The council voted unanimously to approve Resolution 26-21, which adopts the FY2027 Final Budget. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Russell Porter at 6:03 pm and adjourned at 6:34 pm.
