Real Salt Lake earned a crucial 2-1 victory over Western Conference rival LA Galaxy on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2026, at America First Field. The win in front of 20,738 fans allowed the Claret-and-Cobalt to clinch their sixth consecutive MLS playoff berth and secure the final Western Conference playoff spot.
RSL scored both of its goals within the first 13 minutes of the match. Rookie Spanish striker Sergi Solans provided the opening goal in the 10th minute after receiving a through-ball from Noel Caliskan. Solans' strike was his 15th MLS goal of the 2026 season, finishing just two goals shy of the all-time MLS single-season rookie record of 17 set by Cyle Larin in 2015. He also finished just two goals short of the RSL single-season club record held by Alvaro Saborio and Cristian Arango.
Utah native Zach Booth added the second goal in the 13th minute. Following a failed clearance by LA Galaxy, Booth converted an outside-the-boot strike. The goal marked Booth's first since August 8 and his second of the MLS season.
The LA Galaxy scored a goal in the 40th minute via an own goal by Luc de Fougerolles, following a shot by Hirving Lozano. Despite the late momentum shift, Real Salt Lake maintained its lead through the second half. The victory contributed to a 5-2-1 record for RSL over its final six games following a 13-game winless streak that spanned from July to September.
Real Salt Lake concluded the 2026 season in ninth place in the Western Conference standings with a 45-point record of 13-14-6. The club has now qualified for the postseason in 16 of the last 19 MLS campaigns. Additionally, the team has qualified for the 2027 Leagues Cup.
Real Salt Lake is scheduled to face eighth-seeded Seattle Sounders FC in a West Wild Card matchup on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2026. The winner-take-all game will be held at Lumen Field in Seattle with a 8:00 p.m. MT kickoff.
