No. 18 Utah State soccer earned a decisive 6-0 victory over Idaho State on Thursday afternoon at Davis Field in Pocatello, Idaho, according to a September 17 report. The win, which concluded the road portion of the Aggies' nonconference slate, extended both their winning and shutout streaks to three matches.
The match faced a brief weather delay due to lightning prior to kickoff. Utah State took an early lead when Summer Diamond converted a penalty kick just 29 seconds into the game. Ten minutes later, Rachel Reitz converted a second penalty kick to make the score 2-0. Shortly after, Diamond scored her second goal of the match, following an assist from Samantha Sellers and Austin Miller, marking the fastest succession of goals in program history.
Following a 75-minute weather delay during the second half, Utah State added three more goals. Kaeda Wilson scored in the 59th minute, assisted by Miller and Sellers. Mia Lopez scored in the 77th minute, assisted by Kasie Vigil and Bentli Barrera, and Mia Mullenmeister scored in the 80th minute following a takeaway by Wilson.
Utah State recorded 32 shots during the match, including 14 shots on goal, while Idaho State recorded five shots. Kunie Hirai led the Aggies with five shots. In goal for Utah State, Ivy Nystrom played the first 77 minutes before being replaced by Allee Grashoff.
The Aggies (7-2-1) will return home to host unbeaten Saint Mary's at Chuck & Gloria Bell Field on Sunday, Sept. 20, at 1 p.m.
