The application process begins with contacting the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Services to determine the specific license type required and to obtain a Local Consent form. Once this form is obtained, the city office will complete and return it to the DABS after all local requirements are met.

Applicants can submit their requests by completing an online business license application. Alternatively, individuals may schedule an appointment with the business licensing office or visit in person to use a kiosk for assistance with the online application.
Review Process and Fees
A business license officer reviews applications within three business days. Once all necessary documents are uploaded, the applicant will receive an email notification to pay the licensing fee. The cost of these fees is determined by the type of Local Consent obtained from the DABS and is listed in Salt Lake City’s Consolidated Fee Schedule.
Post-Payment Inspection Instructions
After the licensing fee has been paid, the city will send an email containing instructions for scheduling necessary inspections. The business license office maintains a 30-day window to approve or deny a license application.
