Community leaders and local responders welcomed students to Haven Bay Elementary for Walk and Roll to School Day, according to an October 7 statement. The event featured music and greetings from community members as students arrived at the school via walking, scooters, or buses.
Local first responders from the Weber County Sheriff's Department and West Haven Fire Station 63 participated in the event by lining the walkways to provide high-fives and encouragement for safe crossing. West Haven Mayor Rob Vanderwood and Weber School District Board Member Jan Burrell also attended to greet students as they entered the building.
Students who arrived by bus joined the celebration by walking the final stretch to the school alongside their peers. The event was organized by the Haven Bay PTA and school leaders to promote health and joy for the students.
The celebration was described as an effort to foster school pride and community connection at Haven Bay Elementary.
