Price City Council held a workshop on August 12, 2026, to discuss several municipal updates and upcoming projects, according to meeting minutes published August 27. The meeting included presentations regarding a new nuclear energy plant and various departmental reports from city officials.
During the meeting, Jess Housekeeper, the Director of Operations for Valar Atomics, and other employees highlighted a new nuclear energy plant in Orangeville and discussed future plans for the facility. Police Chief Brandon Sicilia reported 837 incidents for the month and requested additional lighting for Terrace Hills Park.
Administrative Director Nick Tatton noted that proceeds from the 2026 International Days will be donated to local entities following a public hearing at the August 26, 2026, City Council meeting. Other administrative updates included a draft ordinance for a Landscape Incentive Program and a conditional use permit for dorms near the college, which was scheduled for possible approval at the September 8, 2026, Planning and Zoning meeting.
Fire Chief David Johnson reported that fireworks restrictions were obeyed during the July holidays and noted that a new shuttle vehicle should arrive by the end of the month. Finance Director Lisa Richens discussed audit preparations for October and mentioned that Price City will remain with Caselle after the partnership with Xpress Bill Pay ends in November.
Public Works Director Miles Nelson provided updates on several infrastructure projects, including the completion of the pickleball courts and the award of the Spring Line Transmission Line project to Condie Construction. Nelson also noted that the water department is currently working to fix leaks while managing two vacancies.
Councilmember Tina Urbanik raised concerns regarding a safety hazard involving non-functional hazard lights at the International Days location and requested temporary lighting for Terrace Hills Park. Mayor Willis concluded the meeting by questioning the value and impact of Price City events on city departments and manpower.
The workshop was adjourned at 5:21 p.m. The meeting was attended by Mayor Willis and Councilmembers Miller, Root, Seeley, and Urbanik, while Councilmember Tanner Richardson was excused.
