The Salt Lake City School District recently announced several key developments, including the hiring of Dr. Analis Carattini-Ruiz as the new Associate Superintendent. Dr. Carattini-Ruiz is scheduled to begin her role on July 1, 2025.
Other recent district highlights include the achievement of 374 SLCSD students who earned the Seal of Biliteracy and the celebration of 106 graduates from Sky View Academy, an accredited high school program providing education to incarcerated adults at the Utah State Prison.
In recent educational recognitions, Katrina Stratford, a reading coach at Liberty Elementary School, received the Science of Reading Coaching Award from the Utah State Board of Education.
The district office building, completed in partnership with contractor Big D Construction, was selected by the Associated Builders and Contractors of Utah to receive a Project Year 2024 Excellence in award.
Additionally, students at Edison Elementary have been conducting a student-led investigation to collect data and work toward eliminating cafeteria food waste.
The Salt Lake City School District will offer free meals to all children ages 0–18 during the 2025 summer season. Free lunch locations include many schools, several parks, and the Salt Lake City Library.
