Summit County, Utah, has been recognized as one of the nation's Top 15 Rural Communities for 2026 by Expansion Solutions Magazine. The honor was part of the Expansion Solutions 2026 Awards of Excellence, which celebrates leadership in business growth and economic development across the United States.
According to an undated notice from the county, communities were evaluated based on an analysis of workforce strength, infrastructure readiness, corporate investment activity, economic performance, and long-term competitiveness. The ranking recognizes communities that demonstrate the collaboration, strategic planning, and economic development leadership required to compete for business investment.
Jeff Jones, the Economic Development and Housing Director, stated that the award reflects the quality of the business community, citizens, and visitors. He noted gratitude for the partnership of the state and other counties, expressing excitement that the Wasatch Back communities continue to thrive.
