The Tier I and Zoological Advisory Board scheduled an all-day review for August 27, 2026, according to a report published August 21. The meeting, which was to take place at the Mid-Valley Performing Arts Center Conference Room in Taylorsville, was set to run from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
According to the agenda, the meeting was to be chaired by Peter Klinge. The proceedings included a public comment period where verbal comments of two minutes or less were accepted in person. Written comments could be submitted to the ZAP Advisory Board Liaison, Dustyn Burt, via email no later than two hours before the meeting began.
Scheduled items included the election of 2027 leadership, with Lynette Wendel listed as a nominee for Chair. The agenda also included a staff presentation regarding 2027 Tier I and Zoological SWO and Data Reports, as well as a CPA review overview by Tori Potestio of Sorensen Vance and Company, PC. This review was to cover industry trends and financial health tests.
The board was scheduled to review various applications by discipline. Disciplines included dance, music, media arts, botanical, zoological, natural history, visual arts, arts education, theatre, multi-disciplinary, local arts agency, and humanities.
Specific organizations listed for review included Ballet West, Utah Symphony, Salt Lake Film Society, Red Butte Garden & Arboretum, Utah's Hogle Zoo, Utah Museum of Contemporary Arts, Hale Centre Theatre, Utah Arts Festival, and the Salt Lake Arts Council, among others. The meeting was scheduled to conclude with a vote to approve 2027 Tier I and Zoological funding recommendations.
