The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) has announced plans to replace both the eastbound and westbound Interstate 8/0 bridges located at the Jeremy Ranch interchange in Summit County.
Construction is scheduled to begin on August 3, 2026, with an estimated completion date in late summer 2027.
To reduce months of traffic impacts, UDOT will use the Accelerated Bridge Construction method. This technique involves building new bridges next to the freeway before sliding them into place during a short closure.
While construction focuses on Homestead Road, travelers should plan ahead for additional delays. Expected impacts include lane closures on Homestead Road throughout the project, day work from Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., and night work as needed.
Drivers can also expect increased noise, dust, and vibration in the project area, as well as trucks entering and exiting the work zone. Additionally, there may be up to two weekends of full road closures on I-80 at Jeremy Ranch in 2027.
The project aims to provide long-term safety improvements and a shortened construction timeline compared to traditional methods. The new bridges are intended to ensure safer, smoother travel for residents, commuters, visitors, and commercial trucking through the region.
