The Bates Fire has ignited in the foothills of Tooele County, located east of Stansbury Park. The fire is currently estimated to be 30 acres in size.
According to Utah Fire Info, no structures are currently threatened by the blaze. However, communication towers are situated on the ridge located above the fire.
Multiple ground and air resources are currently on the scene. Additionally, the Utah Task Force is en route from Brigham City to assist with the response.
The Black Canyon Fire has grown to 3,264 acres in the Manti-La Sal National Forest, with containment reaching 78% as of August 24, 2026. Firefighters are utilizing direct suppression tactics and contingency lines to manage the blaze, which was ignited by lightning on July 30, 2026.
