The final 2026 Water Education meeting for Alpine is scheduled for Wednesday, September 16, at 7:00 p.m. at Alpine City Hall, according to a September 2 statement.
Ben Abbott, Ph.D., an Associate Professor in the Department of Plant and Wildlife Sciences at Brigham Young University and Executive Director of Grow the Flow, will serve as the guest speaker. Dr. Abbott is expected to discuss how humans impact the health of the Great Salt Lake. Grow the Flow is described as a citizen-led movement focused on saving the Great Salt Lake through science, storytelling, and civic action.
The meeting will also include a review of Alpine's 2026 conservation progress, covering topics such as water use, leak reduction, and code enforcement. Additionally, the meeting will address potential changes for 2027, including watering schedules, enforcement, water rates, and other conservation measures.
