Two different styles of American music are scheduled to perform at The Covey on Oct. 17, according to a September 15 report.
The event will feature the Tom Petty tribute band Petty Fever alongside Steve Lundquist's John Prine Tribute.
Petty Fever, led by Frank Murray, has been performing as a tribute to Tom Petty since 2009. The band has traveled across the United States and Canada with a consistent lineup that includes Tim Baltus, Steve Kuepker, Todd MacPherson, Jack Codron, and Craig Ostbo.
Murray stated that the band focuses on getting the music right by paying attention to phrasing, guitars, amplifiers, and drum hits rather than simply performing an impression. The set list includes over 60 songs, ranging from hits like Free Fallin' to lesser-known tracks.
Steve Lundquist will perform a tribute to John Prine, performing the soulful Americana and folk stylings of the artist. Lundquist, who has been performing Prine's songs since his youth, described the music as intelligent, lyrical, and smart.
The performance will feature acoustic renderings by Lundquist and The Happy Enchiladas.
The combined show aims to provide audiences with a sense of nostalgia through both electric-backed sounds and acoustic performances.
