IRON COUNTY — A fire started just southwest of Parowan, near Summit in Iron County, on Sunday night.
Fire size and cause
It is estimated at 15 acres and human-caused, according to Utah Fire Info.
Threatened structures and area warnings
Structures are threatened, and police said to avoid the area.
According to the Iron County Sheriff Volunteer Posse Facebook, “Units from throughout the county are working a brush fire off of Old Hwy 91, north of Summit.”
Investigation into fire cause
The police are still investigating the cause of the fire.
Evacuations and suppression tactics
According to Iron County Public Information Officer, Cassie Meredith, they have dropped fire retardant and water and evacuated approximately 50 people.
Details of evacuated residents
Individuals evacuated included 5th wheels, trailers and a dozen full-time residents.
Evacuations happened at the Red Canyon subdivision, according to the Iron County Sheriff's Office.
