The Uintah County Library is inviting community members of all ages to participate in the 2026 Summer Reading Program. Beginning June 1, patrons can collect reading trackers to officially join a challenge where participants compete within their age categories to see if they can out-read the librarians.
The program is free to participate and offers opportunities to earn raffle tickets for prizes by tracking reading minutes and completing various summer challenges.
Participants use a standardized tracker that counts up to 1,800 minutes of reading. For every 15 minutes read, one bubble is filled in. Once a sheet is complete, it can be turned in to a librarian for a raffle ticket and a new tracker.
Beyond tracking minutes, readers can earn additional raffle tickets by completing summer challenges located on the back of the tracker sheet. One raffle ticket is awarded for every completed sheet of challenges, and another is awarded for attending every summer reading event. Children between the ages of 0 and 12 may also complete an Egg Tracker Sheet featuring 10 additional activities to earn more tickets.
The library will host special presentations every Tuesday from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, along with various summer clubs and activities. Key dates for the season include the program opening on June 2, a first prize drawing on June 29, a final prize drawing on July 27, and a closing party on August 4.
Registration can be completed online via the library's registration link, in person at the library, or through QR codes found in advertisements. While participants can sign up children without them having their own library card by using a guardian's card, a library card must be listed to claim any prizes.
