The Newton Town Council scheduled a public hearing for September 5, 2026, to discuss proposed changes to the town's animal control code, according to a August 24 notice.
The meeting is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. at Newton Town Hall, located at 51 South Center in Newton, Utah.
The hearing concerns updates to Title 5 regarding animal control to ensure compliance with State of Utah regulations. Under the proposed changes, violations to the code would transition from a Class C misdemeanor to a Class B misdemeanor.
Proposed code changes can be reviewed during business hours at Newton Town Hall or online at https://www.newtonutah.gov.
The public is invited to participate in the meeting.
