Weber State University has released information regarding auditions and interviews for the 2027-28 academic year. According to information on the university website, students wishing to pursue a degree in Musical Theatre or Acting/Directing must audition and be accepted into those specific programs.
The university scheduled on-campus auditions and interviews at the Val A. Browning Center on Saturday, November 14, 2026, at 10:00 am, and Saturday, February 27, 2027, at 10:00 am. Additionally, the Utah Unified Auditions and Interviews were scheduled for Saturday, October 17, 2026, at the University of Utah Campus.
Students who cannot attend an in-person session may submit a virtual audition by Friday, October 30, 2026, at 11:59 pm. Those participating in the Utah Unified Auditions do not need to submit materials via the Weber State website as faculty will be in attendance.
Audition requirements vary by program. Musical Theatre applicants must provide a resume, headshot, and a video containing either two contrasting songs and a monologue, or one song, one monologue, and one dance piece. Acting and Directing applicants must provide a resume, headshot, and two contrasting monologues.
For Design, Technical, Management, Theatre Teaching, Playwriting, Dramaturgy, or Scholars programs, applicants must provide a resume, a photo, and a video featuring a brief introduction and a narrated portfolio. Playwriting and Dramaturgy applicants must also submit a writing sample not exceeding 10 pages.
The university encourages students to complete admission and scholarship applications as soon as possible to receive priority status for financial aid and scholarships.
