Kane County seniors are invited to enjoy an evening of food, music, and dancing during the Kane County Council on Aging’s second annual Old-Fashioned Country Hoedown. The event will take place on Monday, August 4, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Kanab Center Ballroom.
The free event is open to Kane County residents age 60 and older and is designed as a celebration of the community’s senior citizens. Karla Johnson, chair of the Kane County Council on Aging, stated that the event is a way to thank the seniors who make the community special through food, live country music, and dancing at no cost.
Guests will be served a ranch chicken dinner with all the fixin’s and live entertainment by the Baker Bunch. The evening will also feature yodeling by Gerta Palmer and cowboy poetry performed by Sam Jackson, Harold Hamblin, and Laurali Noteman.
Mary Ann Swapp is serving as this year's Grand Marshal. Swapp encouraged attendees to embrace the western theme, noting that prizes will be awarded for Best-Dressed Man and Best-Dressed Woman. Attendees are encouraged to wear cowboy hats, boots, bandanas, and fringe.
Spencer Young will return as the master of ceremonies for the evening.
While the event is free for Kane County residents age 60 and older due to support from local businesses, family members and caregivers under age 60 are welcome to attend with a suggested $10 donation.
